Airtel Network Down for Thousands Across India: What Users are Experiencing and Company’s Response

Thousands of Airtel users across the country faced a major network outage on Monday afternoon. Many people reported problems with making calls and using mobile internet on their Airtel connections.

The trouble started around 3:30 PM and quickly spread to many big cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and others. According to tracking website Downdetector, complaints about Airtel’s service spiked sharply around 4 PM, reaching over 3,500 reports at the peak.

Users faced different problems: about 56% complained that voice calls were not going through, 26% said mobile internet was not working, and 18% reported no signal at all. The issues were widespread and not limited to one area, affecting customers in multiple urban centres.

On social media, many users expressed their frustration. Some said they lost mobile data access even after topping up their accounts, while others noted their SIM cards wouldn’t connect to the internet at all. Customers in Bangalore reported Airtel’s 4G service was down for hours, impacting their ability to work remotely. A few users even mentioned considering switching to other service providers if the problem continues.

Airtel responded to the outage with a statement on social media: “We are currently facing a network outage and our team is working hard to fix the issue and restore services as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.”

An Airtel spokesperson specifically mentioned that customers in the Delhi-NCR region were facing voice calling issues, but said much of the problem has been resolved, with engineers continuing to work on a full fix.

The company has not yet shared details on what caused the outage or when services will be fully back to normal. The disruption affected not only personal calls and internet use but also caused difficulties for many working from home during busy hours.
