Oracle Cuts 10% of Its India Workforce After Trump Meeting and OpenAI Deal: Social Media Reacts

Tech layoffs keep making headlines. After giants like Intel, Google, and TCS, Oracle has now laid off nearly 10% of its employees in India.

Oracle’s decision came just days after CEO Larry Wilson met U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House and announced an important new partnership with OpenAI. Many people are wondering if these events are connected.

Oracle employs about 28,800 people in major Indian cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Noida, and Mumbai. The layoffs mostly hit teams working in software development, cloud services, and customer support. While Oracle says this is part of a global company restructuring, the size of the cuts has raised concerns across India’s tech community.

The timing is raising questions. During the White House meeting, topics included new hiring in the U.S., data security, and technology partnerships. Shortly after, Oracle revealed OpenAI would use its infrastructure for large AI projects.

The news of layoffs quickly sparked many reactions online. Some called the move harsh and said it leaves IT workers in a difficult spot. Others worry that more layoffs could be coming soon.

Here’s a glimpse of the discussions happening across social media and the tech industry.
